The Fins have shown how to stay true to their narrative of messing up golden opportunities. They needed to win one game out of the last two, ONE GAME. You had one job...
Its simply unforgivable how inconsistent the Fins were throughout the whole season. They have no advantage whether at home or on the road. The receivers were of no help, because Mike Wallace got hurt in the offseason, and Meowgatron Hartline just finds way to justify fans anger of offering him a crazy extension. Brandon Gibson was a lone bright spot (I thought it was a horribl signing) in the slot, but they didn't utilize him until week 4 or 6, and as fate will have it, he gets season ending injured. The run game was so up and down, and at times I feel frustrated watching Lamar Miller. I no longer see a feature back in Miller, he is by all accounts a CoP, and will be good in spot starts. Daniel Thomas showed some fire under his butt, and seems to run well in the system. However, he is also someone I see who is motivated to not get cut. He'll give the Fins a Chad Henne-esque let down in 2014 when he feels that he has some job/money security. I wanted to see more of Mike Gillislee and Marcus Thigpen. Both were useful at times, because they are multifaceted.
Lastly, the OL was one of the most putrid unit I've seen in a long time for the franchise. Giving up a league high sacks, which may have scrambeled RT17's brain by now. Similarly, the DL was also a problem, although not as atrocious, they do not function as a unit. Individually Wake, Vernon, Starks, Shelby can put some pressure. As a unit, no one is trying to be a role player, everyone wants to be a star and this causes over pursuit every single time.
Lastly, I was extremely vocal about letting Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett go. signing Ellerbe was a exciting, but getting rid of Dansby and Burnett made no sense. And the final season ranking should show that. I do not like Wheeler at all, he was ok in Colts, decent in Oak, but definitely not worth his contract and role.
With the 19th pick in the draft, I really don't know who will be available. I'll leave it up to the draftniks to help me identify good OLs that may still be there
